BRLO Brwhouse, Biergarten & Pop Up
For Novono
The BRLO project, was an exciting body of work beginning with a Pop UP that we had a very short period of time to translate from our newly established Brand Identity into a full spatial concept and final built space. All elements were chosen or designed to be either re-used later in the permanent project, or were rented (such as the scaffolding) to avoid waste. We proposed to them a strong graphical identity, defined by the limited colour palette and simple use of black and white. The design was centred around a glowing backlit temporary structure. Visible from the train lines running close by; the structure acted as a beacon, announcing itself from a distance.
The Brwhouse and Biergarten was Phase 2. A newly finished container building by GRAFT Architects left us with a defined shell to plan the restaurant and exterior beer garden.
In the interiors, this translated to a bold lighting design and the use of a white gridded wire system to break up the black backdrop. Behind the bar, the customers can watch the working brewery. The central double height dining space can change from dining zone to band/DJ stage as required. The garden mimics the concept of a traditional german biergarten, with the integration of actual Hops plants, re-using the furniture and any purchased materials from the Pop-Up.
