The Allistar Cox Residence: A Study in Refined Restoration
Being invited to collaborate on a directors private residence is a significant opportunity. This project involved the comprehensive restoration of a 1906 Victorian workman’s cottage, transforming a heritage structure into a modern masterpiece. Serving as the primary draughtsperson, I worked in a tight iterative loop with Allistar Cox to translate an evolving vision into a technical reality.
The project demanded extreme precision and a high tolerance for detail. I was responsible for the technical resolution of complex bespoke elements, including a kitchen detailed to the millimetre and a custom marble bathroom vanity that underwent multiple refinements. This role required not just technical drafting, but a deep understanding of design development—ensuring that every iteration brought us closer to a perfect, built result.
A primary focus was the relationship between form and material; working with a palette of marble and timber to ensure a beautiful, aging-friendly, and tactile engagement. Every detail was designed to respect the nature of these high-end materials, ensuring they remained functional yet soulfully integrated into the home’s daily life.
