Hallertau Brewery was a staged project. Stage 1 - renovation of the interior restaurant and brewery. Stage 2 - the development of the exterior beer garden.
A covered ‘shed’ was planned and designed to host an outdoor bar and kitchen. A massive retractable canopy with carnival like colours creates a festive vibe that protects clientele from the harsh NZ sun and unpredictable weather. The modest shed-like construction was intentionally chosen to reflect the paired back and relaxed brand identity of Hallertau. New Zealanders love to be outside, and they love casual and relaxed environments.
The in-situ concrete fence by us and additional landscaping by Jared Lockhart, provides a NZ flair and tropical lushness to the European beer garden concept.
